Main
Lab
The
main laboratory is used for a variety of purposes, including cricket
sorting, data collection, data entry and lab meetings.

Recording
Lab
A
Spike2 system from Cambridge
Electronic Design is used to automate the recording and analysis
of male calling behavior.
|
|
|
|
|
Preference
Lab
A
foam-lined chamber with a video camera mounted in the ceiling is used
to test female preferences. Outside of the chamber is a computer used
to play songs and a video monitor to observe female movements.
|
|
|
|
|
Observation Rooms
Two
small rooms adjacent to the preference lab are used for behavioral observations
and acoustic isolation of females prior to preference testing.

|
|
|
Cricket Room
A
large room in the animal care facility and an environmental chamber
adjacent to the main lab are used for rearing crickets.
|
|
|
|
|
Other Space
We
have access to unassigned laboratory space across the hall from the
main laboratory. This includes a large general purpose room (seen here
partially filled with junk) and an environmental chamber.
